What is Perjury in Arizona A.R.S. 13-2702?

Perjury and other related offenses include such violations of the law as false swearing. It is not a defense that any oath taken was administered in an irregular manner or that the accused mistakenly believed that the particular false statement was immaterial.

Perjury is making a false sworn statement about a material issue, believing it to be false or a false unsworn declaration, certificate, verification or statement about a material issue that the person declares as true under penalty of perjury, but believing it to be false.

Perjury is a class four felony. An aggressive and experienced criminal defense lawyer knows that this is a very serious crime and can result in the deprivation of a person's liberty. Immediate contact with a criminal defense attorney is recommended.
